Staff Software Engineer, Enterprise Product

The Enterprise Product team builds the core platform where customers design, deploy, and refine their AI agents. This team transforms complex engineering capabilities into intuitive, self-serve tools that work for both technical and non-technical users. Your work directly supports agents across Decagon's entire customer base, each with distinct workflows and requirements, making this role essential to the company's ability to grow.

What you'll do

• Set technical direction for a full-stack product engineering team, establishing architectural principles and design patterns that support enterprise scale and evolving customer needs

• Own complex initiatives from unclear requirements through shipped products, working with Agent Software Engineering and Product teams to validate direction

• Build no-code tools that let non-technical teams create and manage sophisticated agent workflows

• Develop monitoring and analytics features that give customers visibility into agent performance and optimization opportunities

• Work directly with customers and cross-functional partners to discover needs and validate product strategy

• Mentor engineers as the team expands, provide technical leadership on projects, and strengthen team practices through design review and knowledge sharing

What you'll bring

• 6+ years shipping full-stack software products with proven influence on technical direction and strong product sense

• Strong command of TypeScript and/or Python with solid architecture and system design capabilities

• Ability to design abstractions and platforms that handle multiple use cases without becoming unwieldy

• Demonstrated success leading technical work and building consensus across teams

• Skill at holding both technical rigor and speed of iteration in tension, guided by customer feedback

• Track record mentoring engineers and establishing technical standards that stick

• Product intuition grounded in translating user needs into technical solutions

Nice to have

• Background building security-focused systems such as authentication, authorization, or data access controls

• Experience designing and scaling developer tools, APIs, platforms, or infrastructure

• Exposure to large language models, AI agent architecture, prompt engineering, or AI-powered products

• Knowledge of async programming patterns and building systems at scale

• Work on observability, data visualization, or analytics platforms

• History of shaping design patterns or architectural principles adopted across organizations
