Strategic Finance

Decagon operates a conversational AI platform that transforms how major brands interact with their customers. The company partners with industry leaders like Avis Budget Group, Block's Cash App, Square, Chime, and Oura Health to deploy AI agents that deliver personalized experiences across voice, chat, email, SMS, and other channels. Backed by top-tier investors including a16z, Accel, Bain Capital Ventures, Coatue, and Index Ventures, Decagon is redefining customer service by moving beyond support tickets and hold music toward faster resolutions and deeper relationships.

Decagon is scaling rapidly and building out its finance function to support that growth. As one of the first finance hires, you'll be central to the company's most important strategic decisions, working directly with co-founders and leadership rather than simply reporting on past performance.

What you'll do

• Own the quarterly and annual planning cycle end-to-end, guiding overall company strategy, resource allocation, and decision-making
• Build and maintain the financial model and unit economics framework that drives business insights
• Partner cross-functionally with executives to ideate, support, and drive strategic initiatives
• Define financial and operational KPIs, build dashboards, and identify levers to accelerate growth and efficiency
• Monitor key performance indicators, financial metrics, and cash flow; deliver regular reporting packages and insights on business trends
• Construct complex financial models for long-range planning, unit economics analysis, business cases, and investment evaluation
• Own materials for Board meetings and serve as a key partner in future fundraising processes

What you'll bring

• Three to five years of experience in Strategic Finance, Corporate Finance, or a closely related role at a high-growth technology company
• One to two years of investment banking experience at a top-tier firm
• Expert financial modeling skills; ability to build from scratch, stress-test assumptions, and translate outputs into clear narratives
• Strong analytical instincts and ability to distill complexity into structured frameworks and actionable recommendations
• Excellent communication skills and comfort presenting to leadership
• Demonstrated ability to influence without authority across teams
• High ownership mentality; you take initiative, drive projects to completion, and hold yourself to a high bar
• Proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel; SQL or BI tool experience strongly valued

Nice to have

• Experience working in B2B SaaS with familiarity with ARR-based business metrics
• Familiarity with Accounting ERPs and financial planning tools
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related business field
