About the role
Deepgram is the platform powering the emerging voice AI economy, enabling over 200,000 developers and 1,300+ organizations to build voice-powered products through real-time speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and voice agent APIs. The company has processed more than 50,000 years of audio and transcribed over 1 trillion words, backed by a recent Series C from leading global investors. Now Deepgram is expanding beyond its developer platform to build its own line of AI applications—products that put voice AI directly in users' hands—and they're hiring a Staff Product Manager to define and grow this new business.
About Deepgram
Deepgram operates on an AI-first foundation where every team member actively uses and experiments with advanced AI tools as part of their daily work. The company moves at the pace of AI development itself, which means change is constant and the work evolves rapidly. Success here requires comfort with experimentation, quick adaptation, continuous learning, and a willingness to push the boundaries of what's possible with emerging technology. If you thrive in fast-moving environments where traditional structures give way to rapid iteration and discovery, this could be the right fit.
What you'll do
- Set the overall strategy for Deepgram's AI applications portfolio, including which products to build, target customers, and competitive advantages; document and defend this strategy to leadership while maintaining clear direction.
- Own the complete product roadmap, making decisions about features, shipping sequence, and resource tradeoffs from current applications through future launches.
- Build and measure the business metrics: drive user acquisition, activation, retention, and monetization; track weekly progress toward profitability; ensure the business model works.
- Serve as the main point of contact with partners and customers; commit to delivery timelines and represent product capabilities in market.
- Establish the team's operating cadence of hypothesis, shipped iteration, measurement, and next decision, using real user behavior as the success bar.
- Work daily with research, engineering, design, and marketing teams; ensure customer and user needs shape every product decision.
- Communicate through prototypes, mockups, and wireframes; use the product yourself every day to understand what's working.
What you'll bring
- Prior zero-to-one product experience where you've defined a new product line from scratch and understand the full scope of effort required.
- Strong ability to develop product strategy, write it clearly, defend it with data, and maintain consistent vision amid organizational pressures.
- Hands-on product sense demonstrated through prototyping and daily product use rather than reliance on reports alone.
- Comfort with AI tools and a genuine interest in voice AI as a category.
- Track record building viable business models across acquisition, activation, retention, and monetization.
- Skill in cross-functional partnership and the ability to bring user perspective into every decision.
- Genuine excitement about experimentation, adaptation, and continuous learning in a rapidly changing environment.
Nice to have
- Background in voice technology, conversational AI, or related domains.
