Databricks ✓ Verified · Remote (California) · Full-time
Salary not listed

About the role

Databricks is a unified data and AI platform used by enterprises worldwide to process massive data workloads and deploy generative AI applications at scale. The company is actively expanding its security infrastructure to protect customers and internal operations as AI capabilities become central to modern software engineering.

The Agentic Security Engineering team at Databricks is building a next-generation platform that brings AI capabilities to every corner of the security organization. This horizontal engineering team supports detection and response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, red teams, governance, and continuous monitoring functions. The team's mission is to let security teams operate at machine speed while maintaining rigorous safety and reliability standards.

What you'll do

  • Design and architect the shared Security AI platform that enables governed agentic workflows across multiple security functions, establishing patterns for agent identity, least-privilege access, sandboxing, egress control, and policy enforcement.
  • Define engineering standards and qualification mechanisms that determine what security personas can do, what controls they require, and how they earn additional autonomy as they mature.
  • Lead the design of production-grade capabilities for reliable, safe operation at scale, including metrics for successful runs, latency, failure rates, rollback readiness, governance coverage, and business value.
  • Serve as technical authority across security operations, product security, governance, compliance, and enterprise security teams, aligning leaders on platform direction and architectural tradeoffs.
  • Drive technical solutions for high-risk workflows involving offensive security personas, untrusted inputs, sensitive data, production access, and automated tool execution.
  • Mentor engineers on distributed systems, platform architecture, AI security, agentic threat modeling, and technical leadership, raising the bar through rigorous design reviews.

What you'll bring

  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience at major cloud, platform, or high-growth tech companies, with demonstrated capability at Senior Staff level.
  • Exceptional fluency in Python and modern cloud-native systems architecture including Kubernetes, distributed streaming and storage, and high-throughput microservices.
  • Proven ability to align multiple VP and Director-level organizations on complex technical strategies and execute multi-quarter architectural transformations.
  • Deep practical expertise in AI and ML security, agentic system trust boundaries, prompt injection risks, tool-use risks, adversarial testing, identity and authorization, and secure AI deployment.
  • Experience designing platform guardrails for sensitive workflows involving untrusted input, privileged tools, secrets, production systems, and confidential data.

What they offer

  • Remote position based in California (US candidates in other locations considered).
  • Full-time employment.
