About the role

Databricks is a unified data and AI platform company that helps enterprises manage and analyze massive datasets while building AI applications. The company operates at scale across cloud environments and serves as a critical infrastructure layer for modern data operations. Databricks is rapidly growing and maintains a strong focus on security and operational resilience as it scales.

The Enterprise Security team at Databricks protects the corporate environment, including the company's SaaS platforms, internal systems, automation workflows, and AI-related infrastructure. This team sits at the intersection of enterprise architecture, security engineering, and business enablement, working across IT, Engineering, Legal, Privacy, and Procurement to identify risks early, establish enforceable security standards, and enable secure operations at scale.

What you'll do

  • Implement and improve preventive security controls across enterprise systems by translating approved security requirements into tested, operational protections across access, configuration, endpoint, network, and data-protection domains.
  • Build and maintain security automation using Python, Go, APIs, Terraform, or comparable technologies to enforce controls, improve operational efficiency, and reduce dependency on manual processes.
  • Develop and integrate AI-assisted and agent-based security automation to streamline control validation, recurring reviews, and remediation workflows while maintaining appropriate access controls, testing, and auditability.
  • Create automated testing, monitoring, and validation capabilities to confirm security controls operate as intended and identify gaps, configuration drift, or ineffective enforcement.
  • Integrate security platforms and enterprise systems to streamline review workflows, surface actionable findings, and support consistent enforcement across interconnected infrastructure.
  • Partner with Enterprise Security, IT, Engineering, and business-system owners to troubleshoot implementation challenges involving authentication, API integrations, permissions, and security tooling.
  • Contribute to Security by Design initiatives by translating recurring security requirements into reusable controls, automated checks, and secure defaults.

What you'll bring

  • Seven or more years of experience in security engineering, enterprise security, infrastructure security, cloud security, or related disciplines with hands-on production experience implementing and maintaining security controls.
  • Strong programming and automation skills using Python, Go, or comparable languages, including experience with API integrations, infrastructure-as-code, and version control systems.
  • Demonstrated experience engineering security controls across one or more domains such as identity, endpoint, SaaS, cloud, network, or data protection.
  • Deep understanding of authentication, authorization, SSO, OAuth, service identities, API security, secrets management, and least-privilege design principles.
  • Proven ability to develop automated security checks, configuration validation, drift detection, and remediation workflows in enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience building or integrating AI-assisted or agent-based security automation, including testing, monitoring, and auditability measures.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently deliver security engineering improvements, collaborate cross-functionally, and achieve measurable security outcomes.

Nice to have

  • Experience implementing security controls across multiple enterprise security domains rather than specializing in a single area.
  • Familiarity with enterprise security platforms such as Okta, Google Workspace, CrowdStrike, Jamf, or Prisma Access.
  • Experience with policy-as-code frameworks such as Open Policy Agent or Rego.
  • Background securing enterprise data and AI platforms, including Databricks or comparable technologies.

What they offer

  • Full-time remote position based in California with consideration for candidates in other US locations.
  • Opportunity to work on security infrastructure at scale within a rapidly growing cloud and SaaS environment.
