Italian Sports Localization Specialist (Football)

This role sits within their Translation, Localization, Interpretation, and QA Testing team, supporting their growing roster of global clients.

You'll be joining Welocalize as an Italian Sports Localization Specialist focused on football content. Working remotely from anywhere in the world, you'll review, fact-check, translate, and culturally adapt sports-related materials from English (US) into Italian. Your primary responsibility involves quality control work, assessing grammar accuracy and subject matter expertise as you ensure football content resonates authentically with Italian audiences.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include

• Reviewing and localizing football-related content while maintaining alignment with established style guides and brand guidelines

• Conducting market research to understand local terminology, content trends, and localization best practices specific to Italian football audiences

• Fact-checking sports information to maintain accuracy and credibility

• Providing constructive feedback on written content from a linguistic and sports perspective

• Evaluating and adapting machine translations where applicable

To succeed in this role, you need

• A degree or at least two years of professional experience in translation, localization, sports journalism, copywriting, or copy-editing

• Deep, demonstrable knowledge of football and contemporary sports culture

• Proven experience translating and localizing multimedia sports content, including experience with machine translation evaluation

• Native-level Italian proficiency paired with excellent English grammar skills

• Strong creative writing, editing, and proofreading abilities in Italian

• Solid technical competency with computers, mobile devices, MS Office applications, and spreadsheets

• A licensed copy of Microsoft Office (required)

Nice to have

• Published sports writing on outlets like ESPN, The Athletic, or FourFourTwo

• Background working with sports media platforms, live score applications, or streaming services

• Ability to adapt content voice and style for Gen Z audiences and football fan communities
