Good to know
- Rates assume you are a tax resident (in Singapore 183 days or more in the year). Non-residents pay the higher of 15% flat or the resident rates on employment income.
- Citizens and permanent residents (from the 3rd year) pay 20% of pay into CPF, on up to S$8,000 a month. It is your own savings, and it lowers your income tax. Employment Pass holders do not pay CPF.
- First- and second-year PRs pay lower graduated CPF rates, and workers over 55 pay less. Those are not included.
- Tax is not withheld from pay: IRAS sends one bill the year after (income earned in 2026 is taxed in 2027). Only Earned Income Relief and CPF relief are included.
- Tax year. Income earned in 2026 (Year of Assessment 2027).
Questions people ask
How much is S$180,000 after tax in Singapore?
About S$162,630 a year, or S$13,553 a month (tax-resident foreigner on an Employment Pass). That is after Income tax S$17,370. Income earned in 2026 (Year of Assessment 2027).
Do foreigners pay more tax in Singapore?
Not on the rates: an Employment Pass holder who is a tax resident pays the same rates as a citizen. Citizens and PRs take home less cash because 20% goes into CPF, but that is their own savings and it lowers their tax.
Are token grants included?
No. Tokens or equity received for work are usually taxed as income when you receive them or when they vest, at their value then. Rules differ, so check your own grant with a local tax adviser.
