About the role
Wayve is building an AI platform for autonomous driving that learns directly from real-world experience rather than relying on pre-mapped routes or hand-coded rules. The company is pioneering a mapless, hardware-agnostic approach that integrates with global vehicle manufacturers to enable continuous software evolution across automation levels. With hubs across London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver and Leonberg, Wayve is positioned at the forefront of a transformation in how people and goods move.
The Vehicle SW Engineering team at Wayve focuses on turning new vehicle programs into stable, reliable robotic systems. The Platform Integration team operates at the intersection of onboard software and vehicle hardware, creating reusable components and frameworks that accelerate integration work across multiple programs. This role sits at that critical boundary, combining hands-on vehicle and bench work with production-level software development to enable safe, scalable deployment.
What you'll do
- Support software initialization on benches, hardware-in-loop systems, and vehicles at test locations globally.
- Develop and maintain vehicle-facing software components and shared frameworks that reduce redundant engineering work.
- Diagnose and resolve integration issues across software and hardware boundaries.
- Build diagnostics, tooling, and metrics to monitor robot-software reliability and performance.
- Identify architectural improvements that enable reuse and reduce bespoke development.
- Produce documentation and operational guides that support long-term system maintenance.
- Partner with hardware, safety, controls, calibration, and reliability teams across the organization.
What you'll bring
- Strong production software development experience in C++, Python, or Rust.
- Demonstrated track record delivering production-quality software on Linux-based robotic, embedded, or automotive platforms.
- Hands-on experience integrating software with vehicle or embedded hardware systems.
- Working knowledge of ROS2 or comparable robotics middleware and distributed-system architecture.
- Ability to debug complex problems systematically using logs, telemetry, on-target testing, and experimentation.
- Understanding of vehicle sensors, networking, and the practical challenges of bringing up new platforms.
Nice to have
- Experience with drive-by-wire systems and CAN tools.
- Familiarity with hardware-in-loop simulation or functional safety standards.
- Background in shared framework design or observability and monitoring.
What they offer
- Salaries benchmarked competitively against market rates.
- Meaningful equity reflecting ownership in the company's long-term success.
- Relocation support and visa sponsorship where applicable.
- Hybrid working model with core hours and access to vehicle workshops and labs.
- Learning and development budgets for training, conferences, and career growth.
Pay, location & hours
Salary not listed. Based in London, United Kingdom (Hybrid).
