Marathi Linguistic Evaluator & Functional Tester

The Welocalize team is recruiting a native-level Marathi speaker for a confidential, large-scale project with a major technology and communications client. This is an on-site role based in Tokyo, Japan that combines two core responsibilities: evaluating an unreleased AI model and testing its real-world performance on consumer devices. You'll be among the first people to experience this technology in Marathi, and your feedback will directly shape its quality before public release.

What you'll do

• Assess pre-release AI output in Marathi for accuracy, naturalness, cultural appropriateness, and overall quality, including fact-checking responses against source material
• Compare the Marathi user experience against the English version, testing feature parity and confirming the product handles non-Latin script, diacritics, right-to-left text, and mixed-language input correctly
• Test the technology on actual devices: a smartphone and next-generation smart glass, identifying display issues like text overflow, rendering problems, or localization errors in dates, numbers, currency, units, and untranslated strings
• Document each issue with clear reproduction steps, device and operating system details, locale information, build ID, and supporting evidence; retest after fixes are deployed
• Provide native-speaker perspective on navigation, usability, and language-specific nuances
• Work on-site in a secure Welocalize office location; remote work is not possible due to the confidential nature of this programme

What you'll bring

• Native-level or fully bilingual Marathi proficiency, written and spoken, with current, everyday fluency in both conversational and technical language
• Comfort navigating smartphones and laptops across iOS and Android platforms
• Strong attention to detail and objective judgment when evaluating quality
• Ability to work independently, follow detailed test scripts and guidelines, and communicate issues clearly in English
• Previous experience in software testing, localization QA, or linguistic evaluation is valuable but not required if you demonstrate strong language skills and precision

Nice to have

• Background in app or software testing
• Familiarity with localization quality assurance workflows
