The GTM team at Pinecone bridges customers and product, combining customer success and solutions engineering to accelerate adoption and drive growth. This Associate Field Engineer role is designed for recent graduates and early-career professionals who want to build technical depth while directly shaping how customers experience the platform.
What you'll do
- Serve as the technical liaison for customers from initial evaluation through production deployment, ensuring they implement Pinecone effectively and reach value quickly.
- Learn customer architectures, use cases, and technical requirements, then communicate these insights back to Product and Engineering teams to inform roadmap decisions.
- Develop monitoring systems and health dashboards that help identify customer risks early and uncover opportunities for account expansion.
- Debug technical problems and provide hands-on support, becoming fluent in Pinecone's capabilities and the wider AI and machine learning landscape.
- Document processes, build internal tools, and systematize support workflows to help the team scale operations and reduce manual effort.
- Support the Sales organization with technical discovery conversations, product walkthroughs, and proof-of-concept engagements.
- Act as a developer and advocate for customer experience, contributing ideas and code to improve integrations, documentation, and internal systems.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a closely related field, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
- Solid understanding of APIs, cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and enterprise software systems.
- Ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly to audiences with varying levels of technical background.
- Familiarity with embeddings, vector similarity search, recommendation engines, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
- A startup mindset: resourceful, flexible, and comfortable taking initiative to solve problems in ambiguous situations.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or both.
Nice to have
- Experience with Datadog or other monitoring and observability platforms.
- Hands-on work with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.

Pay, location & hours
$90K–105K / year. Based in New York City.
