As a Staff Software Engineer in Systems, Security & Compliance, you will own the cloud infrastructure that powers Taxbit's platform and lead the technical vision for how the company builds, deploys, secures, and operates systems at scale.

What you'll do
- Design, build, and operate secure, highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS, including infrastructure-as-code using AWS CDK or Terraform to ensure consistency across all environments
- Own the design and continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions to enable frequent, reliable deployments
- Define and implement backup strategy, disaster recovery procedures, and data architecture patterns across cloud systems to support scalability and resilience
- Establish centralized logging, monitoring, and observability across services and infrastructure to drive operational visibility
- Implement security guardrails integrated throughout the development lifecycle and collaborate with security and compliance teams to raise reliability standards
- Build workflow automation that reduces manual toil in infrastructure provisioning and operational tasks
- Debug and resolve complex issues across distributed, cloud-native systems, conducting root-cause analysis to drive durable fixes
- Implement AI Ops practices to deploy, monitor, and operate AI-enabled systems and pipelines responsibly in production
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with significant hands-on experience in AWS cloud infrastructure and systems engineering
- Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript, or equivalent language
- Proven experience with CI/CD, GitHub, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools, particularly AWS CDK or Terraform
- Demonstrated expertise designing and implementing backup strategy, data architecture, and disaster recovery for cloud systems
- Experience implementing logging and monitoring solutions and maintaining observability across distributed systems
- Security-minded approach with practical experience implementing and maintaining security guardrails in engineering workflows
- Strong debugging skills across distributed systems and experience with workflow automation
- Familiarity with AI governance practices and frameworks for managing AI systems responsibly, plus understanding of AI security risks and mitigations
Nice to have
- Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Linear, Jira, and Databricks
- Experience with AI security concerns including model and data access controls

- Base salary of $130,000 to $210,000, with eligibility for incentive compensation and equity
