Solutions Engineer, Japan

This is a full-time remote role based in Japan. You'll serve as the primary technical resource for Optimism's enterprise and institutional customers across the Japanese market, working at the intersection of sales, product, and engineering. Your job is to help large financial institutions evaluate, architect, and deploy systems on the OP Stack.

What you'll do

• Lead technical discovery and diligence sessions with enterprise and institutional partners, covering architecture, security, compliance, performance, and operational concerns
• Design and manage test environments including devnets, performance benchmarks, and cloud deployments to validate throughput, latency, and cost expectations
• Act as the main technical point of contact throughout evaluations, pilots, and production integrations
• Translate enterprise requirements into actionable feedback for OP Labs' product and engineering teams, helping shape roadmap priorities around performance, compliance tooling, and privacy features
• Guide partners through OP Stack architecture, deployment options, upgrade strategies, and operational best practices to support their move from experimentation to production
• Represent Optimism in technical workshops, partner meetings, and industry events across Japan
• Support integrations with custody providers, wallet platforms, cloud infrastructure, and system integrators like Fireblocks and AWS
• Collaborate with local ecosystem partners including system integrators, exchanges, and wallet providers to accelerate adoption

What you'll bring

• 5 to 10 years in sales engineering, solutions architecture, or technical pre-sales roles
• Strong hands-on experience with Ethereum or EVM-based systems, particularly Layer 1 or Layer 2 platforms
• Deep understanding of blockchain architecture including sequencing, finality, rollups, smart contracts, and network operations
• Demonstrated experience working with regulated institutions such as banks, asset managers, exchanges, or payments firms
• Solid knowledge of cloud infrastructure, production deployment environments, and the tradeoffs between performance, scalability, security, and operations
• Fluent in Japanese with professional English proficiency
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Comfortable working independently with C-level stakeholders while also operating within cross-functional teams
• Mission-driven mindset aligned with rebuilding financial infrastructure on open, composable blockchain rails
• High execution focus and comfort navigating ambiguity in fast-moving markets

Nice to have

• Background in financial infrastructure or distributed systems
• Experience designing and deploying production-grade blockchain systems
• Prior work with regulated fintech environments
