About the role
Ripple is transforming global finance through innovative blockchain and cryptocurrency solutions for institutions, businesses, governments, and developers worldwide. The company operates at the intersection of fintech and enterprise, helping reshape how value moves across borders and systems.
The Managed Services team at Ripple is looking for a Senior Derivative Accountant to join their Treasury division in New York. You'll be the go-to expert on derivative instruments and hedging relationships, managing the full technical accounting lifecycle for a diverse client portfolio under both ASC 815 and IFRS 9 standards. This is a hands-on position where you'll own complex client engagements end-to-end while working closely with treasury and finance teams at all levels.
What you'll do
- Manage derivative accounting across interest rate swaps, cross-currency swaps, FX forwards, options, and commodity derivatives for multiple clients simultaneously.
- Prepare and review hedge documentation, designation memos, and risk management objectives; perform formal effectiveness testing under both standards.
- Conduct prospective and retrospective effectiveness assessments using regression analysis, dollar-offset methods, and hypothetical derivative techniques.
- Generate journal entries and financial statement disclosures on hedging activities; respond to client technical questions about deliverables.
- Make informed judgments on hedge accounting elections, fair value hedges, cash flow hedges, net investment hedges, and de-designation decisions.
- Interpret new FASB and IASB guidance and communicate implications clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Lead audit engagement support and work directly with external auditors on derivative matters.
- Build stronger internal methodologies, templates, and technical resources.
What you'll bring
- Five or more years of direct experience with derivatives and hedge accounting in public accounting, corporate finance, or consulting.
- Deep technical knowledge of ASC 815 and IFRS 9, including practical hedge accounting elections and disclosure specifics.
- Solid understanding of fair value measurement under ASC 820 and IFRS 13; familiarity with derivative valuation methods.
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements with precision, organization, and attention to tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills — you translate complex accounting concepts for non-accounting audiences.
- CPA credential preferred; advanced degree in Accounting or Finance a plus.
- Experience with hedge accounting platforms such as Ripple Treasury, Chatham Financial, Reval, or FIS Quantum preferred.
What we offer
- Annual base salary of $144,000 to $175,000 USD, plus equity and bonus opportunities.
- Flexible in-office arrangement: you and your manager determine which 10+ days per month to collaborate in person.
- Comprehensive benefits covering health, mental wellness, retirement, and family support.
- Professional development budget, generous vacation, wellness reimbursement, and R&R days.
- Parental leave and family planning benefits; employee giving match and mobile phone stipend.
