About the role

Wayve is an AI platform company pioneering autonomous driving through end-to-end learning rather than hand-coded rules. Their AI Driver learns from real-world experience to navigate complex environments safely and efficiently, adapting and improving at scale across diverse vehicle platforms and hardware configurations. The company operates from major hubs including Sunnyvale, London, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver and Leonberg with a hybrid working model.

Within Wayve Labs, the Multi-Embodiment Generalist Agent (MEGA) team is creating foundation models for general-purpose robots across different physical platforms. This team is expanding beyond autonomous vehicles to develop intelligent agents capable of perception, reasoning, movement and manipulation across mobile manipulators, dual-arm systems and humanoid robots. You would join as a founding member of this research group.

What you'll do

  • Lead development of offline 3D reconstruction capabilities that transform vehicle sensor data into high-quality geometric world models within dynamic scenes
  • Combine localization, mapping, state estimation and sensor fusion techniques to produce 3D reconstructions and ego motion estimates from heterogeneous sensor suites
  • Work hands-on with real robot hardware, debugging across software, mechanical systems and machine learning components
  • Design and execute experiments with strong attention to data quality and rigorous model evaluation
  • Balance fundamental research exploration with pragmatic engineering to deliver deployable systems
  • Communicate technical findings clearly across research, engineering and product teams
  • Take ownership of 0-to-1 challenges in a rapidly evolving research environment

What you'll bring

  • Hands-on experience with robot manipulation and hardware systems
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python for robotics and machine learning applications
  • Strong fundamentals in robotics and machine learning with the ability to translate research into production systems
  • Demonstrated ability to judge experiment design and assess technical quality
  • Publications in premier venues such as ICRA, CoRL or IROS
  • PhD preferred or Master's degree with substantial relevant experience
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where you shape how things get built

Nice to have

  • Track record of publications in top-tier robotics and AI conferences

What they offer

  • Market-competitive salaries with annual benchmarking
  • Meaningful equity stake in the company
  • Relocation support and visa sponsorship
  • Hybrid working arrangement with access to hands-on vehicle workshops and labs
  • Learning and development budgets for conferences and training
  • Comprehensive health coverage, dental, enhanced parental leave, retirement plans and wellbeing resources
