About the role
OP Labs builds and maintains Optimism, a Layer 2 blockchain network that handles over 65% of all Layer 2 activity on Ethereum. The OP Stack powers infrastructure for hundreds of companies—from Sony and Coinbase to Uniswap and OKX—enabling them to launch their own blockchains and bring users onchain. Founded with backing from a16z, Paradigm, and others, OP Labs is a lean team moving at the speed of the ecosystem it supports, with $178M in funding and serious ambitions to reshape financial infrastructure.
OP Labs is hiring a Product Marketing Lead to own how Optimism and the OP Stack are understood, evaluated, and chosen by the market. You'll shape the narrative for enterprise buyers, institutional partners, and developers—translating complex infrastructure into clear value propositions that drive buying decisions. This is a rare role requiring both B2B enterprise rigor and genuine technical fluency. You'll report directly into the marketing function and have visibility across the entire go-to-market engine.
In this role you will
- Own positioning, messaging, and narrative across all core audiences. Define how OP Labs positions against competing Layer 2s, rollup frameworks, and infrastructure providers.
- Drive end-to-end launches from segmentation through post-launch measurement. Own the launch strategy, tiering decisions, cross-functional coordination, and ROI tracking for each product rollout.
- Develop ideal customer profiles and buyer personas for financial institutions, fintechs, and enterprises evaluating onchain infrastructure. Keep these current and actionable.
- Build the sales enablement function: pitch narratives, solution briefs, competitive battle cards, case studies, and objection handling to shorten enterprise sales cycles.
- Partner with Product on roadmap prioritization using customer discovery and market evidence. Work with Partnerships to package joint offerings with ecosystem players.
- Maintain competitive and market intelligence on alternative L2s and infrastructure providers, turning that view into positioning decisions.
- Build and lead the product marketing function over time, including hiring and setting operating cadence.
You bring at least seven years in product marketing at enterprise B2B SaaS, with demonstrated end-to-end ownership of positioning and launches for technical product lines. You've marketed to enterprise buying committees through long, multi-stakeholder cycles involving procurement, security, and legal. You have strong commercial instincts around packaging, pricing narrative, and competitive displacement—and a track record showing impact on pipeline and revenue, not just content output.
You're comfortable engaging directly with engineers and technical buyers. You can develop credible messaging about infrastructure without oversimplifying it. You have strategic product thinking skills, including the ability to run customer discovery and bring evidence into build-partner-buy decisions. Experience marketing to both developers and enterprise buyers is a strong advantage.
You're a high-agency cross-functional operator who drives work across product, sales, BD, design, and external partners to ship launches that create measurable impact. You're an exceptional writer, able to produce concise strategy documents, narratives, and enablement material that keep stakeholders aligned. You've managed multi-quarter marketing roadmaps and driven clarity in ambiguous environments. You have genuine passion for blockchain technology, decentralization, and open systems.
Nice to have experience selling or marketing into banks, payment networks, or fintechs. Familiarity with compliance, risk, payments, stablecoins, or fiat-rail products is valuable.
