Software Engineer, Frontend / Full Stack (Identity Platform)

Phantom is a leading crypto wallet with over 20 million active users, built to make accessing global markets simple and secure. The company operates fully remote across roughly 180 people, backed by a $150M Series C from a16z, Sequoia, and Paradigm. You'll join the Identity Platform team, which owns the trust layer of Phantom: everything from authentication and key generation to the signing pipeline that processes every transaction.

What you'll do

• Own and evolve the transaction signing path that every user relies on, ensuring it stays fast, secure, and reliable across all networks.
• Build and harden authentication, unlocking, biometrics, and account access flows for both web and mobile environments.
• Implement passkeys (WebAuthn) and multi-factor authentication improvements, balancing security with usability.
• Manage onboarding and key lifecycle: key generation and derivation, seed phrase flows, seedless registration, and hardware wallet pairing.
• Design and maintain key export and import experiences with strong safety guardrails in place.
• Write high-signal, non-flaky tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) for critical paths and oversee safe rollouts through monitoring and staged releases.

You'll need at least 7 years of professional experience and strong TypeScript skills, comfortable shipping code across browser, Node.js, and mobile JavaScript runtimes like Hermes. You should have a track record building reliable test suites for critical systems and solid familiarity with authentication concepts: sessions, tokens, MFA, OTP, and WebAuthn. Strong engineering fundamentals in system design, debugging, and production reliability are essential.

Nice to have

• Deeper knowledge of OAuth2, OIDC, WebAuthn internals, cryptography, or key management systems.
• Experience with Web3, wallets, or signing flows.
• Background in security, payments, identity, or custody systems.
• Rust experience or genuine interest in learning it.
